Why is it that one day you do something you have done a 100 times before but the outcome is quite different! It may be you picked up a pen from the floor, or you may have sneezed, or perhaps emptied the washing machine. An innocuous task, but you end up in agony with back pain!
Most of us are designed to lift using our legs but some people lift mostly using their backs. We are not designed to sit, yet some people sit for over 7 hours per day, which is over 50% of our waking day. All these are small loads that accumulate throughout our busy day. Add to these stress, worry and lack of sleep, and then you have the recipe for a problem. You may say it’s the straw that broke the camel’s back.
If you image a seesaw as a barometer to whether you get pain or not. If one side is loaded with the good stuff like a good posture, good core strength, good nutrient, and a well aligned spine. While on the other side there are bad things like bad lifting, a disc bulge, prolonged sitting, poor sleep. Then as long as the good side outweighs the bad, then the seesaw will be tilted to that side and you will have no pain. If you add a few more bad things then the seesaw tilt the other side and then your pain starts.
So sometime a small thing is enough to make a difference. What you need to do is change the things you can that can help, by removing the bad stuff like prolonged sitting and add some good stuff like good posture and exercises that increase your core strength. If that is not enough to move you out of pain, book an appointment at Chiro Relief.
